Supply of medicines and medication safety

Research project Black Box MedHome

Together with Brandenburg Medical School (MHB), the working group is studying how older people who take several medicines organise their medication at home. Little is known about this everyday routine; it is a “black box”.

The study asks which routines, difficulties and risks there are, which paper-based and digital aids patients and their relatives use, and what support they need. It combines interviews with patients and with professionals from general practice, pharmacy and nursing, a survey of around 250 patients in Brandenburg, and focus groups. The aim is practical recommendations. The project is planned to run for 24 months.
